Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Monitors the electric system status and daily work of the field crews, controlling and assisting to ensure field work is completed in a safe and organized manner.  Coordinates between field and office personnel to efficiently identify and restore power system problems using SCADA, AMI and other data systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicates proficiently with field crews using two-way radio, cell phone, text and other applications, directing and documenting responses and actions.
  • Prepares and executes electric system switching orders.
  • Maintain working relationships with Tri-State and Xcel Energy providers.
  • Extensive use of SCADA, real time meter data, vehicle tracking, NISC mapping, outage management and work tracking and other software and tools in completing duties.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • AA in Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of electric distribution system equipment and operations, including electronic controls, communications and data points. Three to five years prior experience in related field with computer application skills and technical knowledge of related systems, including implementation of new systems and applications.
  • Strong understanding of SCADA systems including development of new operating screens, field sites, and end devices, including communications with SEL, DNP3 and other protocols. Must complete a two-year apprenticeship dispatching program or equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License.
  • Position requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail due to sensitive life safety issues.
  • Must adhere to the Cooperative’s safety manual, policies, procedures, service rules and regulations.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with consumers and coworkers.
  • Updates and modifies Energy Control Plan, operating procedures, instruction documents as needed.
  • Able to work effectively in an occasionally hectic and distracting environment, juggling numerous priorities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Majority of duties are performed inside.
  • Irregular hours, including nights, weekends and holidays may be required.
  • Travel outside the system may be required.
  • Jobs are performed sitting, driving, standing and walking.
