Description
POSITION SUMMARY: Maintain and repair all fleet vehicles; mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools and heavy equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Repair fleet vehicles and equipment including major overhauls, hydraulic systems, welding and other maintenance.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance through inspection and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Complete written report of materials used and time required for service/repair for each vehicle.
- Assist in developing bids and specifications for new vehicles, equipment and trailer purchases.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels of tires, batteries, oil and other parts and materials necessary for service and repairs.
- Monitor and maintain the fuel pumps and tanks.
- Test and maintain standby generator for office facilities as well as off-site radio generator.
- Keep shop clean and organized.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
- Automotive technology degree or industry specific equivalent is required.
- Five years of experience in diesel and gas engine tune-up and repair which includes experience with repair and maintenance of automotive systems such as brakes, electrical and air systems.
- Must know how to operate vehicle lifts, tire machines, drill press, brake lathes, grinder, and other metal working tools.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic system designs, operation and maintenance is required.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of state and federal regulations associated with transportation.
- Must possess basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Colorado Commercial Driver’s License.
- Must adhere to the Cooperative’s safety manual, policies, procedures, service rules and regulations.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with coworkers, vendors and general public.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Duties are performed inside and outside in inclement weather.
- Irregular hours include nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.
- Travel outside the system may be required.
- Must be able to perform duties as stated above.
- Activities are performed while driving, sitting, kneeling, standing, and walking.
