Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for installation and maintenance of fiber/wireless Internet and telephone services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ability to perform installation, troubleshooting and repair of both VoIP telephony and Internet services to residential and business customers.
- Ability to read complex prints and understand fiber optic splicing spreadsheets.
- Ability to maintain accurate customer and splicing records
- Ability to perceive differences in wire and cable colors and possess considerable hand-eye coordination and concentration.
- Possess a basic understanding of Wi-Fi networks including hands-on experience with switches, routers, and gateways.
- Install and maintain microwave radios as well as Radwin and Tarana wireless gear on towers.
- Maintain equipment at the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).
- Understanding of Ethernet networking including equipment configuration, VLAN's, QoS is preferred.
- Ability to work overtime on a rotating call-out schedule and take emergency call-outs as necessary. This would include being available via cell phone while on call.
- Must participate in sales of company products and services.
- Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills and be able to work with limited supervision.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Associate Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
- Five years telecommunications experience including 2 years in a CPE installation and maintenance environment as well as basic understanding of electrical theory.
- Must have or be willing to complete Radwin and Calix Certification.
- Must pass the Colorado Bureau of Investigation background check.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Colorado Driver’s license.
- Must have a sense of integrity and urgency for completing tasks and interacting directly with customers.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly with customers and coworkers.
- Must adhere to the Cooperative’s safety manual, policies, procedures, service rules and regulations.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Some work may be performed on utility poles, carrying and working aloft on ladders, in cable vaults and ditches.
- Some work may be performed in attics and crawl spaces as well as rooftops.
- Travel outside of the service area may be required.
- Must be able to perform activities listed in the position description.
- Typical activities performed are driving, sitting, kneeling and walking, working at various heights above the ground and from aerial devices.
